Fall Wreath Workshop - 11.1.23, 11.2.23
Dried Flower Wreath
MATERIALS
-14” grapevine base
-Dried sea oats, dried apricot, burgundy and pink strawflower, amobium (tiny white flowers), dried white spike celosia, dried terra-cotta spike celosia, dried broom corn, fresh grevellia
-green floral tape
-bind wire and green floral wire
ARRANGING TIPS
Our grapevine base is very tangly, making it easy to insert our materials.
Before you insert your stems or bundles of stems, make sure to strip any foliage from the section of the stem that is going into the base. Dried flowers have delicate stems, so bundle them if necessary before inserting. Just create little bouquets and wrap with green floral tape or wire.
Layer! Start with the ‘greenery’ - the sea oats, and grevellia - to establish your overall shape, then insert other materials to add interest. Consider your final wreath shape - would you like the greenery to go all the way around?? Or half-way to make a crescent shape? If you would like a more wild-looking wreath, cut your stems longer. If you want a more compact wreath, cut your stems shorter. Insert your stem and give your wreath a shake to make sure everything stays secure.
CARE
You can hang your wreath on a door or wall, using a nail or wreath hanger. Just be sure to keep your wreath out of direct sunlight or harsh weather to ensure that it lasts longer. At the end of the season, or when you decide to take your wreath down, remove all your greenery and textural bits and save your base for reuse. It will last forever.
